Company History

My name is Larry Manoly, and I currently manage Manoly Furniture Service. Our company was established by my grandfather in Austria, where he worked as a bedmaker.

When he came to America in 1908, he settled in New York and continued his trade. He had three sons. The oldest was my father, Larry Manoly Sr., who was the only one to continue in the furniture industry.

After learning the trade in New York from my grandfather Nicholas, my father became a shop foreman for Sloan Mayer Furniture for 15 years. While doing this, he did private work to continue his business.

My father married and moved to the Washington, D.C. area, continuing to expand Manoly Furniture Service. He specialized in insurance and household moving claims from the trucking companies and continued to build a strong private clientele. I joined the business after graduating from high school in 1971 and then proceeded to work under my father’s supervision. I continued the business after my father's retirement in 1982.

Today, we still partner with some of the companies my father worked with. Manoly Furniture Service has built a strong clientele, including the moving and insurance industries. We have also established a strong business in the private sector.
